Rohrman Sports Association

Beyond
the race.

Our work extends beyond organising sporting events. Guided by our mission of improving people's lives through sport, we bring volunteers, sponsors and community partners together to create projects with a lasting impact.

The George
Jeffrey Project

Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017, the Rohrman Sports Association helped coordinate the rebuilding of the Barbuda home of long-time community volunteer George Jeffrey, whose house had been destroyed during the hurricane.

George had spent years giving his time and energy to others. When he needed support himself, the Rohrman community helped bring together the people and resources needed to give something back to him.

The project was completed in two phases between June 18 and September 25, 2021. The Jumby Bay Fund served as the principal funding partner, while the Barbuda Council provided labour and important on-island support. Rohrman's role was to bring the partners, businesses, tradespeople and volunteers together and coordinate the effort.

The construction work was led and supervised by Cordova “Popoy” Simon, together with his son Ashawn Simon, nephew Kyle Simon and brother Steve Simon.

More than simply rebuilding a house, the project demonstrated what can be achieved when community organisations, businesses, volunteers and individuals work together towards a common purpose. It was a powerful example of the resilience of the Barbudan community following one of the most catastrophic natural disasters ever to affect the Caribbean region.

The National
Trail Project

The National Trail Project was established as a collaborative volunteer initiative to develop, maintain, protect and promote hiking trails throughout Antigua and Barbuda.

Led by the Rohrman Sports Association in partnership with hiking organisations and groups including 268 Trails, Wadadli Trail Blazers, 5AM Hikers, Jolly Roger Hikers and many other volunteers, the project brought together people with a shared appreciation for our natural landscapes.

With support from the Ministry of Tourism, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and local businesses, volunteers have helped clear, develop and signpost trails, improve access and make more information about the country's trail network available to residents and visitors.

Hike 365

A Trail Guide for Antigua & Barbuda

Produced in November 2021, the first edition brings maps, photographs, descriptions and route information together in one accessible resource. Its purpose was to put Antigua and Barbuda's trails “on paper” and preserve knowledge that had often been passed from person to person.

The guide was developed by Rory and Justine Butler, Jason “Jonah” Joseph, Orrin Genesis Steele, Dayson Brewster, Joseph Chin and numerous other contributors, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and with distribution support from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.

The original 48-page PDF is provided unchanged, so its trail-route and website links remain clickable.

The Rohrman
Trail Benches

Three permanent benches now sit at scenic locations along Antigua's trail network, giving hikers and runners a place to rest, appreciate the landscape and reflect on their journey.

Andre Simon Memorial Bench

The first bench was installed in honour of Rohrman co-founder Andre Simon — a national triathlete, multiple national cycling champion and a driving force behind the Rohrman.

On June 4, 2024, it was carried into the lookout by Rishi Ramlalack, Kimanie Simon, Alistair Savoury, Jeremy Clarke, Jerome Henry, Dale Parker, McEwen Ivor Morris and Rory Butler.

One Love Bench

Unveiled in December 2024, the bench celebrates love for nature, fitness, adventure and the people beside us on the trail — including those who remain part of our lives even when no longer physically with us.

Sponsored by Aidan McCauley, designed and built by Michael Hunt, transported by Rishi Ramlalack, Jerome Henry, Dayson Brewster and Rory Butler, and secured by Cordova “Popoy” Simon.

The Third Trail Bench

Installed in 2026 along the route used by the 17K, 25K and 50K events, this ambitious project was sponsored by Michele and Krystal Delco.

The build was coordinated by Rishi Ramlalack and constructed by Denielle Mondesire, Kim Burdon and Dion. Members of Wadadli Trail Blazers, Bush Hikers and the National Trail Project carried the structure and equipment into its remote location.

Our community in motion

Sport can leave
something meaningful.

These projects reflect the contribution of many people and the belief that the community created through sport can make a difference long after the race is over.
